abnormal loads

I`m always amazed when I see a truck with an abnormal load on the back driving down the road. It must take great skill to be able to load such a consignment onto the back of a low loader and then transport it safely from one part of the country to the next. You often see escort vehicles accompanying the abnormal loads and they can be essential in certain conditions. Quite often you`ll witness loads of this nature driving down the motorway and due to their sheer size they often have to straddle two lanes. Companies who require outsized items moving will call on the help of heavy haulage specialists in their hour of need. They know that these transport professionals can safely move expensive items of machinery to a new destination. You`ll often see boats and planes, portable structures and huge items of plant machinery being transported on the back of a low loader. The drivers and handlers of the abnormal loads have to obtain certain qualifications that enable them to work in this particular industry. Safety is paramount when dealing with abnormal loads and due care and attention is taken at all times. It`s down to the experience of the transport teams that enables large scale loads to reach their final destination in one piece.

heavy haulage

Large items of site machinery can be cumbersome to move around and when their services are required at a host of remote locations it takes a specialist type of transport to deliver the machinery to site. Large cranes, earth movers, JCBs and road rollers are the type of equipment that are taken from one site to another with the help of a heavy haulage company. The haulage company provides trucks with low loader trailers which can accommodate all types of sizeable equipment. Each assignment is treated with the care and attention that is deserves and the drivers and handlers of the large equipment are extremely experienced at their jobs. They possess the necessary industry qualifications to work within this sector and can cope with the most awkward of loads in a wide range of difficult circumstances. Loads can be taken the length and breadth of the country and if escort vehicles are required they can be provided by the heavy haulage team. It takes skill and high levels of professionalism to move large and bulky items from one location to another. When such a service is needed the heavy haulage team work wonders and will take a variety of outsized equipment from one location to the next.

low loaders

My dad`s mate Roy used to be a truck driver before he retired a couple of years of ago. He worked for a civil engineering company that had their own heavy haulage division and drove trucks that had low loaders at the rear. Roy`s primary job was to transport awkward items of plant machinery from one site to another. Every now and then during the school holidays I was allowed to go out with Roy in his truck along with his son Paul. As well as being a great adventure for a young lad, it also gave me a great insight into the life of a truck driver who used low loaders on a daily basis. It takes skill and expertise to be able to load cumbersome loads correctly and ensure they are secure before they are transported to a new location. Today as a grown man I always think of my dad`s mate Roy when I see low loaders on the roads of the UK. Their drivers are dedicated industry professionals who acquire the necessary qualifications and experience to transport sizable loads all over the UK. Without the assistance of heavy haulage firms plenty of plant machinery would be left stranded out on site.
